Sleek and Chic Runway Hair

Fashion week officially kicked off yesterday morning with the showing of an early favorite, BCBG Max Azria. The modern, asymmetrical ensembles that ruled the runway were completed with a contemporary, sleek hairstyle created by John Frieda International Creative Consultant Harry Josh:

The collection had a clean, modern feel. I wanted to complement that aesthetic with a very comfortable and effortlessly chic look. The inspiration came from the models themselves, who would come into casting and quickly pull their hair back into a bun. I really wanted to create a look that a woman wearing BCBG would sport herself, since the looks on the runway were also extremely wearable.

Ready to create this look yourself? Here’s how!

1.) Harry began by applying John Frieda’s Frizz-Ease Take Charge Mousse ($5.50) to dry hair and blow drying, using his fingers instead of a brush to separate the hair from the root and create texture. The technique was crucial to recreating the “pulled back” look any girl would get while styling her own hair.

2.) Once the hair was secured in a low pony, Harry added a small amount of John Frieda’s new Root Awakening Strength Restoring Smoothing Lotion ($6.50) to the ends of the hair to ensure the tips were healthy looking and defined. He then wrapped the pony into a twisted bun, leaving the tips of the hair sticking out in a fan-like fringe. “The fringe really completed the look made this low, classic bun a modern, chic style,” says Harry.

Rose Byrne's Pre-Awards Show Prep

This Sunday, the stars will strut their stuff at the 67th annual Golden Globe Awards. Yes, it’s fun to see how the ceremony plays out, but we love playing fashion police even more! From the dramatic dresses to the accessories to the glamazon makeup and hair, we love it from head to toe!

It takes hours upon hours to glam up on the big day, but the planning begins much earlier. Today, we’re revealing a few of the tricks a celebrity hair stylist has up his sleeve! Harry Josh is the International Creative Consultant for John Frieda and will be working with Rose Byrne this weekend. (The actress is nominated for her role on the hit show Damages.) Josh gives us the scoop on Rose’s pre-awards show prep. It’s so easy…you can do it at home.

1. Condition, Condition, Condition!

To ensure Rose’s hair is looking vibrant, smooth and full of shine on Sunday night, I gave her a deep conditioning treatment last week. This kind of treatment hydrates the hair and restores body and smoothes texture to damaged strands.

Here is one that the Celebutante Sisters recommend: John Frieda Frizz-Ease Rehydrate Intensive Deep Conditioner.

Price: $5.99 on Drugstore.com

2. Shine On!

To further enhance the texture and shine of her hair, I gave Rose John Frieda’s Luminous Color Glaze Clear Shine – which she’ll be using at least three times this week. This formula is the perfect solution for those looking for the benefits of in-salon glazing at home.

Price: $9.99 on Walgreens.com. Your strands will be smooth and shiny, but the product won’t change the color of your hair and is free of ammonia, dye and peroxide. Faboo!

Bouncy waves are always sexy, and rollers are the best way to make them last. For some women, they’re also easier to master than a round brush.

Rose Byrne's Stunning Emmy Style- Get The Look!

At the Primetime Emmy Awards, the stars sparkled. The sun was shining down on the red carpet as celebrities flaunted their eye-catching styles…and sleek do’s!

Damages beauty Rose Byrne showed off her ultra-chic collar bone-length cut by Harry Josh, John Frieda International Creative Consultant. How did he fend off frizz and flyaways to create her smooth style? Here are his secrets to creating an “award winning” look of your own.

Harry Josh’s Styling Secrets

Since her dress was so elegant, I wanted to create a simple and chic look for Rose. I knew that leaving her hair down to showcase her new cut would do just that.

1.) Since it was such a hot day in Los Angeles, Harry began by applying John Frieda Frizz-Ease Original Formula Hair Serum to Rose’s soaking wet hair to ensure her style remained frizz-free and polished throughout the night.

EXPERT TIP: “By infusing soaking wet hair with a dime-size portion of Frizz-Ease Serum, you can block frizz that is caused by humidity and fend off flyaways before they start, paving the way for smooth, flawless style,” said Harry.

2.) Harry then applied Frizz-Ease Straight Fixation to Rose’s towel dried hair before blowing it out straight in sections using a FHI Heat Nano Weight Pro 1900 Turbo blow dyer and a round boar bristle brush. Starting with hair at the back of her head and working towards the crown, Harry emphasized a deep side part by pulling hair to the left as he dried.

EXPERT TIP: “It’s essential to begin blow drying from the roots when you’re wearing a side part,” Harry revealed. “Be sure to work hair in the direction of the part as you dry to ensure that the style stays in place.”

3.) Harry finished by spritzing Frizz-Ease 100% Shine Glossing Mist evenly throughout Rose’s hair to amplify shine and flaunt her new color.

EXPERT TIP: “I wanted to be sure that Rose’s hair captured the light and appeared luminous when she was in front of the camera,” explained Harry. “100% Shine gave it a glossy finish that stayed all night.”
