Leather and thigh high boots, oh my!
There are many looks coming to us in a fast and furious fashion, pun intended. A resurgence of the classic rocker chic 80’s has been on our horizon leaking into the mainstream. It is now here in full force, tweaked with soft and feminine touches, all mixed in with the rocker toughness. All while leaving the metal studs and hairspray at home.
How is it done?
Every designer is showing a thigh-high boot in their collection. From Prada to Louis Vuitton, the boots hit the scene hard, screaming the “bad girl rocker” is here. Thigh-high boots no longer belong to the 6’2” models strutting down the runway. Little ones, like moi at 5’1” get a chance to don the boots too. This trend has very serious staying power, so chin up ladies and credit cards out. Indulge in this one:
Opt for the brick red as it is fall’s prevailing color. However, if you are a little shy, go black.
Along with our thigh high boots, you will find LEATHER. It is everywhere! All over the runway and to a store near you. You’ll find blazers, jackets, pants, belts, dresses, capes, jumpsuits, accessories. Personally, I like the strapless leather dresses. It gives the classic LBD (that’s Little Black Dress) a mysterious twist. Does it define you as bad meaning bad or bad meaning good?
Nymag.com boasts,
Leather is worked into anything and everything
Their crystal ball sees the truth. Did you happen to miss these trends in the 80’s? Maybe too young or not brave enough, well darlings, here is your chance. Rock on!

Fashion inspirations: I am consistently inspired by Katharine Hepburn. She is a fashion icon being bold with her style, in a time when women weren’t supposed to be. This is my idea of the epitome of inspiration in wardrobe style. I am also in love with Grace Kelly’s wardrobe in Rear Window. Gorgeous!
As for current designers that I like: Alexander McQueen, Miu Miu, Vivienne Tam, Chanel, Tahari, Kate Spade, Stuart Weitzman with a sprinkling of the latest Target craze! We love that Hi-Low!
